Hi, I'm Crissy and thanks for visiting my little corner of the internet.
My life story: I'm 30 something and the youngest of 3 daughters on Long Island where I live. I went to Penn State (We are... ..Penn State) for my undergraduate degree and returned home for a couple years to work. I eventually got a scholarship to Albany to get my Masters Degree. I recently bought a co-op for myself on Long Island. I like to collect giraffes (cute and fuzzy stuffed ones or figurines, not real ones) travel, and play with my nephews. I also like to get my picture with mascots whenever possible.
Some interesting facts about giraffes: Some giraffes are as tall as 19 feet and can run 35 miles per hour. There tongues can reach 18 inches. Fossil records show that giraffes evolved from deer like ancestors with shorter necks. So why are there necks so long? To fight with! Male giraffes fight each other for the females, the winners get to mate (evolution - the strongest survive and pass their genes on). An average male giraffe neck weighs 200 pounds and is over 6 feet long. They fight by swinging there necks and heads like a medieval ball and chain: The longer and heavier the neck the more the momentum behind the head slams. And after looking at my collection I though they were friendly animals. Since this info has been commented on a couple times I will cite the source - Newsday on Monday, May 8, 2006 by Kathy Wollard. |
